SAT Math Preparation
This class helps students increase their SAT math score. Students will watch a comprehensive set of training videos they can copy and share. Class Descriptions
Algebra 1 - This is an introduction to algebra or advanced arithmetic. Topics covered include real numbers, solving equations, solving inequalities, polynomials, factoring, rational expressions, systems of linear equations, roots, radicals, exponents and quadratic equations. Books and other class materials are provided for free. The prerequisite for this class is Prealgebra. This class meets for two 50 minute sessions per week. Geometry - This is an introduction to geometry, the study of space. Topics covered include lines, triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, circles, planes, cylinders, cones, spheres, polyhedra and analytic geometry. This class will also introduce students to proofs. Books and other class materials are provided for free. The prerequisite for this class is basic arithmetic: integers, fractions, decimals, percentages, exponents and roots. The prerequisite for this class is Algebra 1. This class meets for two 50 minute sessions per week.
Algebra 2 - This is an intermediate algebra course that focuses on the study of functions. Topics covered include linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, conic, complex, sequential and matrix functions. Books and other class materials are provided for free. The prerequisite for this class is Algebra 1. This class meets for two 50 minute sessions per week.
Precalculus - This class prepares students for calculus. Topics covered include trigonometry, analytical geometry as well as symbolic, graphical and tabular representations of functions. Books and other class materials are provided for free. The prerequisite for this class is Algebra 2. This class meets for two 50 minute sessions per week.
AP Calculus AB - This is an introduction to calculus, the study of change. Topics covered include derivatives, slopes, limits, continuity, extrema, concavity, integrals and the calculation of various types of areas and volumes. This course prepares students to take the AP (Advanced Placement) Calculus AB test for college credit if desired. The AP test is optional and not required. (This course has been audited by the College Board and approved.) Books and other class materials are provided for free. The prerequisite for this class is Precalculus. This class meets for two 50 minute sessions per week.
Pre AP Physics - This is an introduction to physics, the study of nature. Topics covered include Newtonian physics, conservation laws, fluid mechanics, vibrations, waves, electricity, magnetism, optics and modern developments. Books and other class materials are provided for free. The prerequisite for this class is Algebra 1. Concurrent enrollment in Algebra 1 is acceptable. This class meets for two 50 minute sessions per week.
AP Physics B - This is an introduction to physics, the study of nature. Topics covered include Newtonian physics, conservation laws, fluid mechanics, vibrations, waves, electricity, magnetism, optics and modern developments. Books and other class materials are provided for free. The prerequisite for this class is Precalculus. Concurrent enrollment in Precalculus is acceptable. Calculus is not a requirement. This class meets for two 50 minute sessions per week.
Computer Programming - This is an introduction to computer programming. Topics covered include languages, variables, expressions, statements, functions, conditionals, recursion, iteration, strings, lists, tuples, dictionaries, files, exceptions, classes and inheritance. This course uses the Python programming language. Books, software and other class materials are provided for free. The prerequisite for this class is Algebra 1. Concurrent enrollment in Algebra 1 is acceptable. This class meets for two 50 minute sessions per week.
